A “Picture is Worth a Thousand Words”.
Between April and July 2024, I guided a group of 18 women through a journey of self-empowerment. I developed a course to provide the education, tools, and resources to improve energy, mood, and fatigue without using drugs.
The process is based on functional medicine principles and practice. It is reproducible and supported by a novel language that simplifies and structures our clinical thinking.
We used advanced biochemical testing, systematized learning modules, vetted nutritional supplements, and validated behavioral practices.
And we collected data.
We measured several validated psychosocial tests as well as the waist-to-hip ratio (thought to be a better health metric than BMI). The results are shown here.
Statistics in a Nutshell
But first, a quick primer on statistics. A p-value of .05 means that the possibility of these findings occurring by chance was less than 5%. This is the “gold standard” for clinical studies. A p-value of .01 is even better, with less than 1% chance of error.
Individual changes are shown by the black lines; composite changes are in red. Each of the tests showed statistical improvement.
The Future of Medicine
The future of medicine will be found in the democratization of medicine. Individuals will develop skillsets to understand their biology and health with access to advanced and insightful medical testing. Treatment plans will all be supported with research-backed science. This data proves that this can be done when structured and choreographed.
From here, we can begin to influence entities like state medical boards, medical school curricula, and insurance companies. In the future, we will have the choice of “taking a pill” or driving our bodies to a state of health using diet, nutritional supplementation, mind-body practices, and hormones.
We can change the future of medicine with a grass-roots movement that starts here. If this interests you, or you’d like to know more, please reach out to me.
